Working on ValueMyStock

I'm busy plugging away at my new business with Doug at the Collab.  We are in the top 25 for the spirit award and have our pitch for the next round on Wednesday.

Hopefully, there's a $30,000 check at the end of this tunnel.

Marriage and Compromise...

So I cried this afternoon and it's all because of Joy. Here's how it went down... (paraphrased from memory)

I'm making my amazing guacamole in the kitchen and Joy is organizing the groceries she just bought, preparing for our niece (5) to come over and make cookies with us. As I'm chopping:

Joy: "I bought cream cheese instead of goat cheese this time because I don't like the after taste of goat cheese. Is that OK?" (we make a goat cheese and pesto hour d oeuvre- thanks Karinda)

June And July Flew By

My my may, how does time fly by. I have been busy building applications at work and trying to finish languishing web projects for clients. Joy and I have managed to get our backyard in decent shape. Half of the deck is built and the garden is thriving. August has been reasonably hot and I'm looking forward to school starting in a few weeks.

It's Been a Busy May

I spent the first part of May studying for Finals and working on new business stuff and http://dogdiscarded.com. We then left for Chicago where Joy's brother Nate, graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I now am allowed to say "What's up Doc?" when he calls, as per our agreement.

Do Parnterships Work?

I read a user vlog on the Art of Manliness community site recently and had to comment on it.

My Comments:
I'm in the process of forming a new S-Corp (not a partnership per say) with two friends and my brother. I know the dangers that can come from dealing with friends and family but I chose to do this anyway.

Spring Break Has Arrived

I am looking forward to taking a little time off of work and school and being able to relax and work on some things I've been putting off for some time.

I plan to spend some time with family, start working on my leather briefcase, build some things and start some new website projects.

I am excited about having the time off for a chance to work on my -yet to be named- collaboration business as well.

The Week From Hell

Joy and I left Friday (2/13/09) for a romantic getaway and to spend time with her friends from college. We got a great hotel and went out to eat at a great restaurant, and then I came back and started working on a work website. I basically spent all of Valentine's Day weekend working at the hotel in Dallas, although I did get to go out to eat on Valentines Day with Joy. I got back to town on Sunday and immediately began working on the same work project, late into the night.

Calculus Will Not Defeat Me

So I have a calculus test tomorrow and I feel like I am pretty prepared for it. I am certain I won't get a 100% but anything is possible, especially since my totally awesome professor gives extra credit.

I think I am going to do well. As mentioned in an earlier post, calculus has been difficult for me. I've always been good at geometry and trigonometry but this non spacial math is killing me. For the first time in my life I actually feel challenged to do the work. It has it's good and bad I guess.

So.. I'm not a multi tasker

We are all on some form of journey. Some of us are on a journey of fulfillment, self discovery, theological dissemenation, or others. I have discovered through my journey a few things about what I am good at and what I'm not. Some things just may never get better and I think I am learning to accept it.
